After growing up in the North Sea region of Germany, Bastian's life brought him to many different locations which shaped him in various ways.

His musical interest began early with piano lessons at the age of four. After guitar, drums and a couple of other instruments, Bastian learned the trombone during his high school exchange year in Reno, NV. There he also participated in his first musical theater performance.
During his Bachelor studies in media management, Bastian attended several internships in the cities of Bremen, Munich, and finally at Stage Entertainment in Hamburg, where he was actively involved in many musical theater productions. On the side, he began working as a director for projects in the German Choir Association.
Bastian completed his Master's degree in music management in Austria. At the same time, he worked at one of the largest german concert agencies, Deutsche Entertainment AG in Berlin, followed by an apprenticeship in Bonn.
During his university years, he spent one semester at San Jose State University, CA as well as one term at the
University of Miami Frost School of Music.
Halfway through his MA studies he began working towards his professional choir conductor’s liscense in Wolfenbüttel, Germany.
In 2009, Bastian’s study "Das Musiktheater und sein Publikum" (The Musical Theater and its Audience) was published.

Following his education, Bastian started work as the Assistant Musical Director of the dinner-musical show Palazzo-Berlin and assumed directorship of his first Berlin choirs. In addition, he started working as a workshop docent and coach. Next, Bastian moved on to Germany’s largest cruise ship, the "MS Mein Schiff", for six months as its band and ensemble manager.
After his return, he founded "B vocal – the house of vocal art" together with his close friend and colleague Thomas Busch. Meanwhile he became a singer in the successful a-cappella ensemble vokalverkehr.

In 2012 Bastian took up a new challenge: moving to San Francisco and starting from scratch, while building on the experience he gained from his professional life in Europe. Within his two year experience he became the musical director of the co-ed a-cappella group "UCSF Vocal Chords" and the kids opera institution "Little Opera San Francisco". He sang with two a-cappella groups (The Clef Divers and Rapid Transit) and increased his knowledge as a business coach through his work with Bill Barren and Brandon Burchard. Bastian now is back in Germany and works self employed, as a freelancer or employed in all the different fields that you can find on this website.
